UIW Excellence Summit 2026

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS!

Submission Form

Deadline: Feb. 20, 2026

The Office of Research and Graduate Studies invites all UIW Cardinal scholars to submit abstracts or full descriptions of their scholarly work. This includes artistic, musical, theatrical, capstone projects, research projects, classroom projects or individual works that demonstrate the principles of scholarly inquiry and showcase innovative and novel approaches. We welcome submissions from faculty, staff and students at all levels, including undergraduate, graduate and professional students, to be part of our celebration of Cardinal scholars.

We encourage projects that incorporate participatory and collaborative approaches, engage with diverse communities and are open to novel formats to enable participation across the numerous academic platforms of excellence at UIW.

Projects presented elsewhere over the last academic year are welcome, even local UIW presentations! All accepted works will be published in the Proceedings and archived in the Athenaeum.

Students: This is a fantastic opportunity to start building your publication records for your future resume and curriculum vitae!

Faculty Guidance: We are seeking your participation to encourage mentorship for our students and welcome ideas on how you and your budding scholars can present together. Please contact our office for more information.

This year, we will incorporate both virtual and in-person presentation formats. If the submission format does not fit your ideas on showcasing your “scholarly excellence,” please feel free to contact us. We are eager to create new platforms that enable participation across the campus using a variety of media.

In addition, the Moody Lectures and the Service-Learning Showcase will take place during our week-long celebration of all Cardinal scholars.

The Service Learning and Engaged Scholarship Showcase is held annually in conjunction with Research Week. UIW community members, faculty, students and staff are invited to share podium presentations or poster submissions that demonstrate their service learning and engaged scholarship. We seek best practices, examples, theories, scholarship and grant writing skills related to all aspects of service learning.

To see examples of Showcase presentations from 2017 to 2022, visit the Faculty Service Learning Showcase site. To learn more, visit the Service and Service Learning Guidelines site.

In 2008, a new tradition of celebrating and showcasing academic accomplishments was established through Research Day. Over the years, it has evolved into a week-long event filled with multidisciplinary presentations, demonstrations and lectures. At the University of the Incarnate Word, we take pride in our research and know that through our search for and communication of truth, we become stronger in educating “concerned and enlightened citizens within the global community.”

All proceedings have been archived in The Athenaeum.
