“I urge each one of you to “get in the game” not only in sports … but also in life, in the search for the good, without fear but with courage and enthusiasm. Get in the game with others and with God, by giving the best of yourselves and giving your life for what truly matters and what lasts forever.”

Pope Francis addressing the Italian Tennis Federation, May 2015

Character in sports; character for life.

The University of the Incarnate Word welcomes scholarship student-athletes across 23 NCAA Division I sports.

Some reach the pinnacle of their individual sport -- as competitors in NCAA Division I fencing championships; as competitors and in World Champion track and field or swimming championships; and as draft picks and free agents in professional basketball and football.

All join with their peers (athletes and general students) in being tested in the classroom, through co-curricular activities and in community service.

High-Achieving Student-Athletes

The Spring 2018 Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll included 148 UIW student-athletes -- more than any other conference school.

In 2017-18, UIW student-athletes earned more than 30 academic all-conference honors and 273 academic honor roll designations.
